wasn't too big of a job. Actually, it was quite simple. Most of the work centered around running water through the coolant system (via a garden hose), doing this until the water came out clear. Since my original radiator was internally damaged, ATF mixed with coolant and contaminated both systems. I removed every coolant hose and ran the pressured water through them, cleaning out every orifice (I hope). There are the radiator hoses, throttle body hoses, turbo water-jacket hoses, and the heater core hoses. Took a long time until all of the ATF was out of all of those systems.
I then replaced the radiator and heater-core hoses, put in the new radiator (from eEuroparts -- oem Saab: it's stamped with "SAAB" and the original part #), refilled the system, then drained the tranny and filled it. I did a tranny fluid change 3 times, ensuring all old ATF was out of there. That was a 2-day job since the fluid is extremely hot after driving the car, and I had to let it cool down before draining it. Actually, the old ATF that came out looked perfectly clean; was not pink or milky. This makes me think the radiator had just blown, but the car was turned off fast enough to not allow coolant to reach the tranny. Plus, I had just done an ATF flush/re-fill 6K miles ago.
In any event, all is back together again, and feels fine. I just hope down the road this doesn't rear its ugly head in some other problem.
Thanks for all your advice, help, and tips!!!!
