Cooling Fan manual 'ON'

I am thinking of adding a manual switch to activate the cooling fan on HIGH. Sitting in New Orleans traffic, I have the pleasure of watching the temp gauge rise and fall, it never gets into the red but this is still June. I have the low temp cooling fan thermo switch as well as the 82 C thermostat (which I also drilled a hole in for added cooling).
I was thinking of running a wire to the thermo switch to ground the lead for HIGH temp so the fan will activate in high speed. My concern is that if the switch closed for the low temp (read slow fan speed), will the low speed relay try to close and force power through the resister bank (which is an expensive item)?
The other idea was to tap into the A/C 'on' lead which activates the fan (high speed I think) but I am concerned I will harm the ACC control head as I would be forcing a ground.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Erik
