Heres a good one, I'm not saying I'm proud of it but.. Posted by AMG [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Sagging headliner. Is replacement only option ?, Cannonball, Mon, 7 Jun 2004 20:00:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
on my last 9000, an 89'CD, the headliner was sagging big time. I cut a long horizontal slit near the back window. Pretty much the whole headliner all the way from the back glass to the back and sides of the sunroof was sagging. Sitting in the backseat (way easier from the hatch if you have it, I'm sure) i sprayed 3M (i think) brand headliner adhesive liberally from the front to the back. I then got in the back seat and attempted to start at the front and press the fabric back up, working my way back. In the end there were a LOT of wrinkled ares, but the headliner never fell again. This car was very beat so it's not like I'm recommending this. It is better than nothing I guess. Good luck.
P.S. If you do something this crazy, roll down all the windows, hold your breath as much as possible, and expect adhesive in your hair. Hmm, looking back, a surgical mask and shower cap would have been nice. Ah, memories ;-)
and don't use just any spray adhesive, only headliner adhesive.
