Okay, I searched the board, and after looking thru close to 2K posts (there are 3880 of them in all), I could not find anything about idle problems on a later-model 9K.
Here's my situation:
Upon start-up (whether engine is hot or cold), the idle jumps above the 900 rpm's mark (like it should), then it drops to 500 rpm's and the engine almost shuts off, then it jumps to 900 rpm's (where it should be) and stays there. This all happens within a matter of 15 - 20 seconds of lapsed time. I also notice white smoke coming out of the tailpipe during warm-up (yet it's quite warm here in CT). I thought it was possibly a blown head-gasket, but the oil looks fine, and the engine runs normally otherwise.
This just started over the weekend. However, I had a problem about 3 weeks ago with an overheat condition due to a faulty t-stat. Replaced the t-stat and coolant, and then 3 days later the radiator blew internally, mixing coolant with ATF and caused the upper radiator hose to burst. Replaced the radiator, coolant, ATF, and cleaned everything up. All seemed okay for the week following. Then this idle problem started.
A question: what is that rubber hose that is attached to the throttle body (it has something to do with air), directly above the 2 small rubber hoses that carry coolant to and from the throttle body. This one is directly next to the electrical connector on the throttle body. This one hose in question is then attached to a black plastic "thing" underneath the throttle body assembly, and this "thing" is then attached to another rubber hose underneath it. The reason I ask is because this hose has something to do with air (in or out, I don't know), and I had fumbled with it many times while doing all the coolant work over the course of the 2 weeks. I'm afraid I might have disturbed something. I've also noticed a slight smell of fuel vapor upon start-up, and then it disappears.
Any ideas (also, explain what that hose and "thing" are)?
