Saab synthetic or Amsoil 20-50w motor oil in Man Tran? Posted by Dana [Email] (#2822) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dana) on Wed, 9 Jun 2004 07:27:42 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Am reposting for any comments......
I think I have figured out why my manual transmission refuses to shift immediately after highway driving long distance.
My Theory: The Saab synthetic I'm using loses some of its lubrication ability when it gets to hot (like on a highway drive)and to old...mine was changed -Saab synthetic-about 10K miles ago. The problem shifting only happens right after getting off highway and never 1st thing in the morning.
My solution? (am hoping for your comments):
Change transmission fluid to the Quasi/Townsend Motors recommendation of AMSOIL SERIES 2000 - SAE 20W-50 Synthetic Racing Oil
Note that this does not appear to be a gear oil but a motor oil.
I think this is the solution.......Comment?
Thanks
Dana
