Buzzing relay query (long)

Hello,

Last Friday, I noticed that the 15A fuse for the internal light/central locking had gone on my 97 9000 Aero. When I replaced it, it fused again. I also heard a continuous buzzing sound when the door closed (not the DI buzzing). It came from the relay tray area from behind the passenger side airbag. I manage to locate the faulty relay (95 15 099).

I rang a SAAB dealer who said this was the internal light relay but didn't understand the problem! (By the way, it costs GBP £52.20 + VAT !)

However, the cental locking does not work. Does anyone have any ideas as to why the relay is buzzing. Is it posible that the internal bulb is drawing more current than usual (maybe on it's way out?). How is this related to the central locking. When I press the left button on the fob, the hazards flash three times as usual to indicate that the car is unarmed, and once to indicate that the car is armed.

Thanks for any help on this issue.
