flushing works sometimes, but I had to replace my radiator to fix my overheat conditions. Was fine at night or when the weather was cool, but when it was hot the car would run much hotter than I was comfortable with.
Turns out the PO hadn't used distilled water and quality coolant/ probably had it topped off at some halfwitt quick lube shop. There was a bunch of what appeared to be calcium buildup that was restricting flow in the radiator.
I hope your flush works for you. You may wish to get a bottle of radiator flush crap to put in first to try to loosen up some of the sludge. Drive it around a bit, let it cool then flush. I am always wary of quick lube places that will drain and refill a cooling system on a hot engine. Seems to me that you are just asking to crack a gasket putting room temperature coolant in a hot engine.
