well the car has been cared for. This is one of the big reasons that I have never parted with my first 9000. By now, I know this car like one of my kids. Know everything that has been done, what needs to be done, and this helps me identify emminent expenses in a new purchase. I am a very picky buyer if I see a car hasn't been cared for the same way that I take care of mine.
I recently bought a used BMW, but since I was looking for a early 90s E32 body, I knew I didn't want one from Michigan. My family thought I was crazy because I paid a bit more than the going rate for a low miles one from Southern Cal, flew out, picked it up, and drove it back to Michigan. It was definately worth it to me. Early 90s cars from the snow belt, no matter how they are cared for or garage kept, will have corrosion. Even my 9000 is beginning to rust at the rear wheel wells, so I know its days are now numbered.
Right now, my 9000 is worth a lot more to me than I could sell it for...meaning I can't replace it for what I could sell it for. To me, other than the small rust spots by the wheel lip the car looks new. Rides better than most US cars with 1/10th the miles. On the open market, a 91 9000CD might only fetch $3K in great condition.
