Your 92car should have a black Saab-Scania #95 63 339 Timer Relay Cooling Fan it has 5 pins, even though the socket has 6 pins wired.Check the condition of the 5 amp labeled timer fuse in the relay/fuse box, that it is not blown.
The cooling fan switch down in the radiator should have a heat shield over it that clips around the switch.Other wise the turbo will heat soak the switch and will cause it to run a LONG TIME!Yes as long as the switch element is closed the fan will run with the 4 pole relay.Depending on battery condition it may run it down flat to a no start.
