I know it's popular in drag racing circles becasue if the flow properties, but for daily driving might not be a good idea, as smoe truck intercoolers do not have internal finning to help cool the air. They are designed for large displacement, low psi application (and low backpressure/heat). THis could be a serious problem in a street car.
you do not need a massive unit in most cases, depending on the design. CFM actually is lower on units with huge frontal area, but that are not thick. IF you want a good comprimise, go with a 3 inch thick unit and size up what you need for the other dimensions. As noted above my unit is only 6 inches high, but I have full airflow over the core (and ittle trimming of hte from chin helped), and it flows CFM and has very good cooling in in low speed situations.
YOu may need to remove the A/C with this though. I don't have A/C so your fit will be different.
check out bellintercoolers.com and the FAQ section for some good info.
