'91 9KT Help Please Posted by Everett [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I have been trying to track down a boost problem on a 91 9000 CDT. Here is what I have done so far:
Checked all hoses and connections
Cleaned BPC with WD40
"Suck Tested" wastegate (ok) and hooter (doesn't hold air/vac, new one on the way)
Disconnected MBC and did a few short speed tests (boost returned to ~10 psi)
I'm still only at around 5 or 6 psi and although I did find a cracked hose from hooter to firewall I can't figure out what happened. I was previously running around 10-12 psi and have not done any work on the car in a while. If someone could answer a few questions I'd be very grateful! What influence does the BPV have on boost (i.e. if stuck open)? Does the BPC even do anything if a manual boost controller is installed? Is base boost solely a mechanically controlled function (wastegate rod etc)?
TIA
Everett
