Although that's a pretty short lifetime, isn't not out of the question. There is no guaranteed lifetime of any part. And a guarantee only means that they'll replace it if it fails. Parts do fail at all ages.
That said, Anders makes a good point. Lots of things can cause misfire. If the engine is stumbling badly, I'd immediately pull the spark plugs. Do they seem wet with fuel? If so, then I'd suspect the DI. I would also pull the DI apart. Flip it over, and you'll see a bunch of torx screws holding the plastic cover on. Pull the cover off and inspect. Do you see burn marks on the circuit board? Are all of the coils filled with oil? (Normally around 90% full). Do you see evidence of burning and carbon? If you see burning, or one or more coils has leaked oil, then you can be comfortable that it's the DI. Of course, the best is if you can borrow a known good DI.
