Ragnar,
Hope all's well!
Your 1986 9000T employs either the BOSCH LH fuel management or Lucas systems which use an air mass meter to measure incoming engine air volume. Since this AMM signal is being sent back to the ECU for proper fuel injector pulse duration, "dumping" air volume to atmosphere will typically render problems with engine running conditions.
It is possible to use the BOV on your AMM based system but there are typically two rules to follow:
-Install the BOV as close to the throttle body (on intake pipe just prior to throttle body or attach directly to throttle body via short hose connection)as possible as this will have less tendancy for AMM conflicts.
-If using an adjustable valve, start at the highest spring preload as this will keep the valve open for a shorter duration.
Hope this helps with your project and please let us know how things progress!
Regards,
