I understand you broke your chain and bent some valves, but if your head is not damaged it would be less expensive to resurface yours than to pay for a used head and have it worked over. Lets face it, the used head did come out of a junk or parts car. I wouldn't have a junk head installed without having it carefully gone over. The only reason to replace your head is physical damage to the part (crack, hole, dent, etc). The head itself is not mechanical and normally not a wear item. The valves, guides, etc should be checked out.
I did have to replace my head, because it was determined that a bent valve put a very small hole in the head. If yours is fine, I would keep it. Have it resurfaced, replace bent valves, guides, pressure checked, and reinstalled. Of course this logic is thrown out the window if the used head is free or very very cheap..
