The charge weight of the system using R-12 is 39 ounces. That means you will need 3 1/4 of the 12 ounce cans or 2 3/4 cans if they are the 14 ounce variety. If the oil put in the system when it was converted is ester based, then you can use it with R-12 without draining. If the oil is PAG, then you have to drain and flush the system and replace it with one compatible with R-12, that is, mineral oil, ester, or PAO (polyalpha olefin). Ester and PAO are compatible with R134a, so I would go with one of those two.
The big problem I see is that you are only going to have one shot at this de-conversion with your used compressor. If you put the system together and one of your o-rings leaks, you're screwed, unless your neighbor has a whole case of R-12 cans. If you keep the system converted, you can completely recharge the system until you get it right for only about $10-$15 in refrigerant costs.
