Unsure about this. Saab's head bolts are torqued to yield. That is, they stretch to a point where they don't necessarily return in original size once untorqued. From what I know, the consensus is that Saab bolts can be reused a few times.

The thing is, if you plan to reused the bolts, you have to pull out all of them and check for evenness of stretch - they should remain equal in length.

Also, you don't just re-torque them after they're in there for a period. This is because after you torque them to ..what is it? around 65 ftlbs..., you tighten them a further 90deg. This leaves a final torque setting of ...unknown. Roughly 100ftlbs, but this depends on how much friction there is in the thread.

If you are to torque up your old bolts again, you only do so after taking them all out, inspecting them and replacing the gasket (although if the head is undisturbed, this may not be necessary).

In Oz at least, Saab head bolts have been superseded by a sort that include a washer and extra threading near the head and these apply to all Saab 4cyl engines.
