I once had this problem with an old chevy. First clue was driving around in a slushy snow storm. I hit a really sloppy pile from the plow and got a face full of slush! The driver's floor had a big hole right under the petals. Later I found that all four wells were in various stages of rot and the trunk had holes of it's own. I bought two 3'X6' galvanized sheets of steel and a pop riveter and went to work. It lasted a couple more years until a very heavy passenger got in the front seat and the supports punched through the floor. That is when I bought my first Saab.
This was a GREAT car. Bought it for $300 with 75kmi and drove it for another 80k. Never burned oil between changes, and the only thing that broke was the water pump. Also gave me 27mpg when most cars were getting low teens. Not exactly a babe magnet though....
I guess my point is if you are not ready to retire this car or rebuild it, you could buy some sheet metal and a pop riveter.
