I totally agree with Steve--Townsend's site has excellent flow charts for transmission problems.

But since my AT service manual is sitting here on my desk, here's what is says for "Shifting too harsh at idling speed, WOT and kick-down shifting," which seems to be the only one that fits your description.

It gives two causes:
1) Accumulator function or modulator pressure incorrect. Dismantle the valve body and check the modulator valve and other accumulators and clean the body.
2) Clutch plates damaged. Check and, if necessary, change the plates.

#1 is something that can be done by a careful DIYer in a clean environment.
#2 requires removing the transmission, opening it up, and replacing the clutch plates. AKA a LOT of work, but really educational. Also could be really devastating on the life of your tranny if you aren't careful.

I would recommend taking care of the harsh shifting ASAP, now that you know it's abnormal. I would also highly recommend calling Eriksson's (after trying Townsend's flow chart fault diagnosis) and see what they recommend.
