I have the same car and it failed emissions in Mass as well. I had the O2 sensor replaced and it still failed on hydrocarbons. I went in and talked to my mechanic, and after wracking our brains for about an hour, we finally realized that it could be the TCS system. When these cars are run on a dyno, the front wheels are spinning and the back wheels are not. This causes the TCS system to try to compensate for what it believes to be wheel spin on the front wheels by backing off on power. This makes the car run terribly, and therefore release more hydrocarbons. We had a two-speed idle test done on the car and it passed with flying colors whereas the dyno test showed HC's that were way out of whack. I now have two options: try to get the state to accept the two-speed idle test, or go to an inspection site where my mechanic "knows someone." The latter will probably end up happening.
