Can't tell unless you open it up. it is rather straight forward. First loosen the serpentine belt, which means removing the front wheel and the wheel arch. Loosen the AC compressor and sling it to the side but tie a string to the car frame to secure it. Then you remove three torx screws to remove the water pump.
There are two connections both with o-rings. The small connection near the timing chain cover wall sends coolant to the heater matrix. The larger connection hooks up to the engine block.
But before you remove the torx screws after the AC compressor is tied to the car body. I'd take a very close look to see what has gone wrong. Minor drips could have easily been taken care of by Bars leak. A major one likely no.
If you remove the water pump, make sure to lubricate the two o-rings well with vaseline before fitting it up. The o-rings tear easily but they are cheap. Order a couple more on hand just in case. For the few times I had to remove it, I always find ways to destroy the o-ring during fit-up. And I find it only after everything is installed to do the leak test by filling fresh coolant.
