Solid mounts will transmit more vibration. How much of a difference this will make depends a lot on your individual car. I've seen mounts on one car have no effect, and on another car, the steering wheel was like a paint shaker at idle. Classic Your Mileage May Vary issue. As to sports car versus Caddy, high vibration does not a sports car make.

Solid mounts, in general, last longer. However, I've never had to replace mounts twice in a car - the second set usually bring the car through the end-of-life. Especially true if you do the Townsend engine mount modification. If you're thinking you'll get 200k+ miles out of this one, then maybe the additional life will help.

As to tightening things up, it's a link-in-the-chain item. Stiffening the engine mounts really won't produce much of a change in handling, and maybe a slight improvement in shifting, if you've got a manual. Solid mounts will show an improvement in addition to other things to tighten the system - poly bushings, stiffer shocks, maybe different springs. Just going to solid mounts won't make all the other things that connect the system together stiffer, especially on the 9000, where the engine is on a subframe.

Bottom line is that if you're doing an upgrade of all suspension components for performance, you'll get improved handling at the expense of some harshness. That's a good tradeoff for most folks. Just stiffening the engine mounts will give you some amount of extra vibration for no real performance improvement. They are cheaper. Since replacing the mounts is a bit of a pain, most folks don't want to do it twice if the vibration is unacceptable. If they want to keep the car stock, they stick with stock hydraulic mounts. If they're re-doing the suspension, they're already doing work, and are ready for some more harshness.
