Busy all weekend taking care of my fleet of old cars..
Did the exhaust header on the 94cs turbo Sunday morning. Replace the exhaust section bolts with stainless steel ones.
Then I helped my son Tim to fix his clutch hydraulic. Althugh the slave cylinder on the BMW is outside of the transmission, which is so much easy to install, we SAAB owners can take great solace that our master cylinder is much, much easy to replace than the BMW 325. The master cylinder of Tim's 86 325es sticks out through the firewall and has a hard hydraulic line at the end the connector of which is almost impossible to remove with congestion. But I digress here....
Anyway, went to the local parts store to pick up a vise grip to remove the hydraulic line. Coming home from the store, trying to save time by going to Rt. 1 instead of local street. Big mistake. Getting off Rt. 1, there is this exit I must have gotton off no more than twice all of 14 years I live in this town. The road was a little wet. Posted speed limit on the ramp was 25 mph. I paid not much attention as I did not on most highway ramps by using judgment. But this speed limit was serious. The car slid and hit the curb. The driver side front wheel scratched badly. But there was more.
Limped home, making screech noise along the way ar 20 mph, removed the driver's side front wheel. The first thing I noticed was the control arm is bent. Since I have to finish the BMW clutch hydraulic, I did not look further. How much more of the 94 cs is damaged I can only guess. It started raining pretty steadily in the afternoon. I called it a day after finishing the clutch job. But I will have to face reality soon. That's tomorrow.
