I'd only had my alarm go off once before and I silenced it with the remote from 60 feet away. I never think about the alarm, so this had me baffled for a couple of minutes.

I come out of the hardware store with a little bag of nuts and washers for a home project.

The 9K has the windows down and the roof open but the doors are locked and the alarm is set.

I toss the bag in through the open driver's window and the alarm goes off. Lights flashing, horn blasting.

I hit the remote button to silence the racket and nothing happens.

I get in and turn the key in the ignition (which works in my wife's Exploder). Nothing. Hmmmm.

I get out.

The horn stops, but the 4-ways are still going.

I hit the remote again. Nothing happens. I notice the lights on the remote do not flash. But a light does go on in my head (albeit dimly!)

I get back in the car, put the key in the ignition, try to start. The alarm goes off again.

Hit the remote. Nothing.

I'm thinking, how do I get on SaabNet from the hardware store to get an answer for this one?

I stick the key in the driver's door, lock it. The alarm shuts off. I unlock the door, get in, the car starts.

Ahhh!

I thought the batteries in the remote might be getting tired, but what are the chances they die at the exact time I set the alarm off?!?!

And of course, no one came anywhere near me while all this was going on. Makes you wonder about the alarm part of the alarm. Disabling the car makes more of a difference!
