I know for a fact that automatic axles and manual axles aren't compatible...

The 1991 uses a direct ignition system that's SIMILAR to the ecu and APC system, but definately too different to expect any kind of compatibility.

The transmission MIGHT bolt up, however... i think the gear rations are different btw years... so this may or may not be a good idea

Aside from all of these problems i can forsee...

...your 87 already has 205k miles on it.

I made the swap from \an auto to a 5-speed in a car with not even 100k, and i can justify spending the money because the body should technically have another 50-75k miles on it to go...

...i dont know much about your car at this point, but who knows how much more it's got to go before it dies too...

in my own honest opinion, i think you should drive the 87 till it dies completely, for one reason or another, but enjoy every minute of it! Make a promise to yourself to not put any large ammounts of money into it to keep it running, if you really think that it should be retired soon... do not buy another questionable 9000 especially one that's not compatible...

2 questionable saab's do not equal one good saab, not for any ammount of money that you'd be willing to spend! ;)

it's heartbreaking news i'm sure... feel free to get 2nd 3rd and 4th opinions if you want... i'm pretty confident others will feel the same way i do. Keep your head up tho, be proud your saab made it to 200k :)
