A/C relay fried [I THINK] wont shut off now! Posted by Henry Helfman [Email] (#787) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Henry Helfman) on Mon, 26 Jul 2004 08:52:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 1987 9kt and Friday my AC stopped working during a very foggy rush-hour drive (of course). Got home and deduced it was electrical, knew relays are faulty, pulled glovebox, fuse panel, as soon as I touched it, she kicked back on. Pulled relay and found pin burnt and terminal block slightly melted, hot to touch but I didn't care, had A/C again when it's in place. Next day dead battery. Turns out the clutch is staying on all the time now, even with the key off. I temporarily pulled the connector at the clutch so it has no current drain but I have no AC. Is is possible that the relay has fried itself closed? Can i pull it apart and clean/unstick it?
Thanks
Henry
