There used to be a wonderful television commercial for the 9000 back in the eighties. It started by showing a 9k hauling butt on a mountain road. Then it turns off the paved road onto a gravel road and proceeds to slide around corners and throw gravel. Then it turns off the gravel road onto a two track road where it splashs through mud puddles and goes through a creek. Finally it drives up to a house and the engine shuts off. The driver gets out and opens the hatch. Inside the car is a small sofa. That really somes up what a Saab is. It's this unique combination of performance, economy, practicality and durability. I'm in the car business so I drive all kinds of cars all the time. There is something very unique and endearing about the 9000 that I've never found in any other car--but don't ask me to explain what it is.
