I had the same problem on my 9000CD . Mr Ol adviced me about the location of the relay which is behind the glove box. After unplugged the dimmer relay (yellow colour abd taller than other relays) the interior light will go off immediatly after the doors closed. This relay cost US$102 therefore, Itry to repair it. Inside there are 2 transistors few diods and resistors plus one IC chip labled 555. I suspected that it could be this particular IC that is faulty but have no time to get a new component.
Mr Ola has rectified the fault by replaced the 'expensive' relay with US$2 OEM delay switch he even attached the picture of such unit. (Hope that his reply still in thei discussion board).
Other cars (BMW 318i) has similar fuction but using much simpler and could be cheaper relay.
Hope this is of some helps,
Suthipuntha
