This week I am doing complete overhaul on my 2.3T engine (300k) in my 91 9kT. Timing chain, guides, sprokets, tensioner, balance shaft chain, sprokets, guide, tensioner....going to pull head and do HG (its good now, just doing it since its apart) complete head/valve job, dropping oil pan to clean and revise oil pickup tube, poly tranny mount, waterpump, serpentine belt, belt tensioner/spring, and belt pully.
Well admist all the other work, I plan to swap my very tired T-25 turbo. I have a good used one to go in (t-25) but have been thinking about upgrades. My TD-04 deal fell though, and I cannot locate any good used ones (or even bad ones). I am now considering going to a watercooled T-3 unit. I know/think I will need the exhaust manifold, water supply/return lines, and oil supply/return lines from an older 9k 2.0.
I have been told my 3 people that this swap should work just fine, given I have the correct parts etc...will it?
Thanks! Any input appreciated! My t-25 runs way out of steam above 3900-4k...I hit and hold 21psi from 2500-3000 then tapers to 12-10ish by 4-4.5k...
A thought...is the knock sensor picking up timing chain noise and cutting back with APC?? What pressure does your t-25 sustain??
