It's really up to you. If the slave is your only worry, this fix should run you something like $1500, less if you do it yourself.
Any 2.3 Saab engine between 1991 and 1993 is susceptible to timing chain breakage if the balance shaft sprockets are not attended to. This is not to say you're guaranteed to have problems, of course. Many do not. But if you're not miserable with your current car, it's got fewer potential problem areas than a 93 turbo, which has the dreaded traction control as its foremost cautionary tale. On the other hand, I've now had four of them without too much trouble, and $3000 for that mileage isn't a bad deal.
Note that the turbo and non-turbo cars do not share many parts in common. For example, different pistons, fuel systems, exhaust, axles, etc.
