Does it seem to be oriented to one side or the other?
I have a '91 and have replaced all engine mounts in a vain attempt to eliminate a creak/clunk during weight transfers. Mine is more pronounced on the Driver's side, hence the hearing question.
I will replace the suspension bits one by one until the problem is gone. The biggest suspect at this point is the upper strut mount. I'll go after the lower control arm bushings and the ball joints too.
Good luck, I'll keep you posted with my progress.
