Hi there,
Manual Aero's and 1998 CSE's have a larger turbo (TD04) , for 225hp.
Automatic Aero's have same turbo (T25) as CSE and CS turbo models. A full pressure turbo (FPT) CS or CSE or automatic Aero makes 200hp.
It gets confusing because the turbo was optional on CS and CSE until 1995. In '95 all came standard with light pressure turbo, but many (all?) CSE's have the FPT.
The LPT cars make 170hp, but they can be easily upgraded to full-pressure.
One easy way to tell is that a FPT car will have a stock turbo gauge, LPT's will not.
All Aero's have nice Recaro seats, are lower slightly, have stiffer suspension, higher 5th gear ratio, and some other nice stuff. 1998 CSE's have all the same stuff as Aero, I'm just not positive on the seats...
I have a '93 Aero, the first year with TCS standard. It's a Pain when you have TCS problems so most people avoid it. 95-97 is probably the best for Aero, there was no Aero in '98.
You'll get the chance again, and if I were you I'd jump if it's the right car. Good Luck -AMG
P.S> Look at Quasimotors.com procedures page to get an idea of common problems. I bet a 9K is not much more to keep maintained than a C900, as long as you get it checked thoroughly before buying.
