Hello everyone...

... ok, a few days ago i posted that my car runs SOO much better without the W hose attached...

I'm sorry for making another thread, but the other was was looking kindof "conjested" ;)

here's the situation:

I get only 15-16 psi max with the W hose attached, and the car runs unevenly all the time... the performance changed throughout the day, and even down the street!

When the W hose is detached... the car runs MUCH MUCH smoother... and i get a constant 15 psi under moderate acceleration, and higher than that if i keep accelerating, however, i do not want to damage anything so i try not to max out the PSI over 20...

...So here's what i did...

I swapped out my friends BPC with my own BPC, from his 1992 9000 turbo, with TCS,

I didn't try to clean his out at all, as he wouldn't let me, and he almost didn't let me swap them out at all!

in any case, his car is much FASTER than mine in acceleration, probably due to his 2.3l engine of course, but it's completely stock, compared to mine being modified...

... of course, with the W hose disconnected, MY car is MUCH faster than HIS! ;)

...so moving on...

his BPC was in my car during a test drive, and i got MUCH LESS boost than i did with my OWN BPC...

i only got about 12 psi MAX, compared to the 15 or 16 i could get with my own BPC fully connected...

just to make sure it wasn't something else causing the lack of performance, we stopped, disconnected the W hose, and continued driving... and we discovered that the car STILL ran smoother/better without the hose attached...

...so i guess that only proves one thing however, that MY BPC is cleaner, or in better shape, than his own BPC... right?

He doesn't have a boost gauge in his car other than the stock one, but his stock one jumps WELL into the red when he is accelerating...

...i know the gauges are calibrated differently, however i rarely break into the red, even on a "good day"

I guess this also proves how important your BPC really is to your cars performance.

UNLESS somehow our BPC's are different because his car has TCS...

the part numbers were the same, but there was a little two letter stamp below the part number that was different on his, i think his was TF, and mine was something else... perhaps L (something)

I guess i should invest in a brand new BPC, because i can tell how much a difference it will make, however $200 is a LOT of money, for me not being 100% sure that the BPC is the problem i'm having...

Moving along again... i've got to mention what happened with the computers in my car.

When the saab dealership in florida was sawpping out my engine, yes, the same ship that messed up ALL of my vacuum lines, they said my computers were "no good" and needed to be swapped out.

I bought TWO PAIRS of other computers... on ebay and from saab used part websites, and spend over $300 in the process...

they kept claiming that the new boxes didn't work either, however i get the feeling they didn't know what they were doing, or they were messing up the new computers as they were being put in... i have no idea...

...anyways...

i finally got a known good working pair from a 90 9000t being parted out, and put my MAPTUN chips in them, and put them in my car... and all is well...

i had a check engine light for a while, with a weird unclearable code "60001" that even SWEDECAR ANDERS couldn't tell me what that was all about... and swapping the computers with the good pair made the light go off...

...however...

there was a lot of mayham with my computers, and the chips... and i'm thinking that SOMEHOW they could be the reason for my lack of performance...

It's funny, i actually have 2 SPARE SETS of computers for my car, deemed "unusable" by the saab dealership in FL, but who knows...

The biggest point i'd likt to make in this message about the computers is this...

Of the TWO di/apc boxes i have, they share the SAME EXACT part number...

9119397, which i've looked up with the saab EPC program and it will fit 9000 turbos in the US from 90-92... so it's the right computer...

...HOWEVER...

upon taking the circuit boards out to inspect them, and trying to install my performance chips in them... i realized something HUGE...

the circuit boards are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT!!!

not just a little difference, but a HUGE DIFFERENCE, like they are from totally different model cars. I find it VERY hard to believe that they would work the same way installed in my car...

one board is blue, and has fewer parts connected to it, ie: less resistors, less capacitors, and it's cleaner looking...

...and then the other one is GREEN, and has many small resistors and capacitors as well as larger IC chips attached to it...

HOWEVER, the DI/APC chip that i replace on these boards with my MAPTUN chip... has the same number printed on it on BOTH boards, so the same "master" chip is used...

VERY WEIRD...

i'm not sure what the difference is... and i'm also not sure which one was used in my car origionally, as i've seen sooo many computers i've forgotten which one was in there to begin with...

I'm also not completely sure which "version" of di/apc is installed in my car RIGHT NOW!

i guess i should check... and maybe figure out which one is shoppsed to be in there...

I want to try installing the stock chips i have too, to see if there is any difference in perfomance...

one thing i noticed, is that the BLUE circuit board had a TF sticker on it, just like the TF printer on the BPC from my friends 92 9k turbo...

coincidence?

I guess i'm just takin shots in the dark here at why my performance sucks so much, but i really REALLY want 20psi all the time. :)

the car is everything i want at 20 psi... and anything less than that just doesn't FEEL right...
