The car is still at the shop. I'm getting a little depressed as I've owned it since noon on Friday and have driven it a total of 25 miles...from the guys house the shop :-) I knew that the AC didn't work when I bought it but now I know why. I've been told that the hoses need to be replaced on the local shop wants almost $500 to fix it!! This seems a little ridiculous. I've also been told that I should probably upgrade the AC to use the non-illegal type of refrigerant (not sure of the name).

I've been looking at thesaabsite.com for AC hoses and have found three different ones. One is listed as "9000 92-92 AC Hose Turbo evaporator to compressor to condenser hose not for cars w/rear AC" and goes for $155. The other two are listed as "9000 90-93 AC Hose Turbo 2 hoses to one fitting compressor cars with Rear RED" and "9000 90-93 AC Hose Turbo cars with Rear single hose runs from compressor to rear of car BLUE". How do I know which one to get? Do I need to get more info from the shop? Is this work that I semi-competent driveway mechanic can do?

And how difficult and expensive is the conversion?
