I can tell you that it's not all that expensive to buy a nice aftermarket system; my OEM Clarion setup was dying on my '93 Aero, and I bought an entire new system (Blaupunkt Heidelberg head unit, Blaupunkt 4" fronts, Boston Accoustics 6" x 9" rears, Blaupunkt 10-disc changer) for around $430. Did the install myself. MUCH better sound, and no silly Clarion gremlins.
Just a thought. I feel your pain.
Also, I agree with the other guys about your belt issues. Make sure your tensioner and pulleys have been replaced with new pieces. Still have a problem, replace the harmonic/main crank pulley.
Good luck, and don't fret -- you'll get these problems resolved and realize how terrific a car you have. And at 109K miles, it's still just a baby!
