At least one of the failure modes of the DI is for the coils to leak oil and overheat. I don't know of any way to easily rebuild a coil. I guess you could swap a non-leaking coil from an otherwise bad DI.
As to the circuit board, I can see replacing an obviously burned-out part, assuming you can get the potting off. You'd probably do some interesting damage getting the potting off. Then you'd need to figure out what died. Chances are good that the obviously burned-out part was a victim, and that the original failed part physically looks just fine. You'd need to test each of the parts in-circuit, which is a pain.
My opinion - you can probably swap out leaking coils for good ones. If it's on the circuit board, it isn't a lost cause, but it's really, really close.
