Did mine last October on my '88. I can't remember finding a procedure anywhere, so here's what I remember.
Easiest to do from underneath. Starter is held in by two nuts (15mm I THINK, don't quote me), and slides over bolts built into the housing. Use a stubby rachet if you have it, not a whole lot of space in there.
You'll also need to disconnect the two battery cables, as well as another electrical connection. Upon disassembly, note where the electrical connection plugs in. Don't worry if you put it on the wrong one--the car simply won't start.
BTW, it's possible that you could have a bad starter solenoid and not a bad starter motor. It's probably easier to simply replace the whole unit, but I had the solenoid fail, so I replaced it, then the motor fail one week later. All this to say I have a slightly used (for 1 week!) starter solenoid sitting on my desk if it would help you.
Good luck.
