Hopefully the url picture shows up...

The picture is of some plugs I took out of my 92 after driving 33K miles after buying the car with 133K miles and never checking or changing the plugs because the car ran great with 20-24 mpg city and 30-34 highway.

Out of curiousity I checked the plugs one day and this is what I found, and so I changed them, of course, and maybe had a slight improvement in power, but not noticeable mpg.

Now I have my 'new' 93 and I just swapped the 92's DI cassette into it because the di springs looked worn in the 93 and I want to make the 93 the strongest car.

With the new NGK plugs in the 93 and the 92's DI the car runs smoother, but low end power seems a little less, surprisingly, though it could be my imagination.

And now, with the comments I've gotten about large plug gaps overworking the DI, I'm wondering which DI would be the best to keep in my 93 long-term.

Do I have a great DI from the 92 if it ran so well on these plugs, or could it have been stressed by the plugs and I'm just waiting for the day it fails.

The 93 had recent Bosch plugs, with proper gaps, when I bought it, and signs of a decent maintenance history.

It's just the 93 DI looked older with weak springs.

Any thoughts as to which one is better??

The only thought I have is, if one fails, at least the 93 can have a new one...

I'm just amazed the 92 ran so well on these plugs!
