Balance shaft chain is gone!!

I just drove about 30 miles after picking up my '93 CSET from my Saab specialist who just removed the balance shaft chain. It was a good thing I finally got around to getting this done as he said it was "very" noisy and loose. We all know what would have happened if the chain had come off of its own volition!
So far I can't detect any untoward vibration or really any adverse consequence for the missing BS chain. Now mind you that my indy also replaced the lower motor mount (it had split in two) and a busted left front tie rod end, which I'm sure contributed a fair amount of unwanted vibration that is now obviously not there. But even in comparison to other cars, I cannot detect anything unwanted from the missing BS chain.
And from the perspective that removal was much less expensive than replacement I am very happy with the recommendation to just remove the chain (my indy spoke to his "Saab people" who also verified it wouldn't be any problem).
