All oil leaks are odd until you find where the damned stuff is coming from!!
The least reliable indicator is where the oil is actually dripping from, oil has the nasty habit of migrating along ledges, crevices etc. before giving in to gravity and falling on the floor. The very first place I'd look is the dip-stick/oil filler tube and where it enters the sump. There's an 'O' ring where the pipe meets the sump. When it hardens it leaks. Be careful removing the tube (from underneath) there's at least 3 pints of oil above the hole you are about to open up.
