The easy stuff isn't working Posted by Ari [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: How's your dome light?, Paul Broeckx, Wed, 22 Sep 2004 01:50:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It gets pretty sticky now. There is no external antenna that I know of - the receiver is built into the Electronic control unit that handles the alarm. There are a bunch of things NOT to do at this point, and that's to start messing with the alarm ECU. There is always the possibility of triggering the immobilizer.
All I can recommend at this point is to go to the dealer. I suspect that the car may have 'forgotten' the remote. They can hook up a Tech II tool and try adding your remote. The charge for this runs anywhere from free to about $40 US. Depends on the dealer and how the service manager is feeling. You can't do this with anything but a Tech II tool, and those aren't laying around (about $5-$6K full up).
It is possible that with the Tech II hooked up, they might be able to see if the remote is transmitting. But that's all I can suggest.
