What year is your car?

If it is a 91 or later, it is possible that you have the tighter spec'd cv splines. On later cars, those are so tight that it's almost impossible to get them off by Quasi's method.
If you are having this trouble, it might be easier to take the hemi axle out and work on it on a bench. Procedure from here: get the car back down onto the wheels and remove the large axle bolt in the hub, jack back up and after removing the wheel, remove the bottom ball joint bolts, remove the inner driver boot large circlip, tap the axle back through the hub assembly and remove the hemi axle.
Once on the bench, with the axle secured in a vice or similar holding device, you can clean things up to see the clip, access it with a pair of circlip pliers, and while holding it open, tap the cv joint off the axle. Careful here, as you should use a "soft" mallet, the kind with the copper or lead pounding surfaces, so as not to damage the cv joint shoulder. I got mine at the local tool shop for $6. With the cv joint off, you can replace the boot, repack the joint, reinstall the cv joint (prolly need to tap it back on) boot clamps and be ready to go.
The only other things you might need will be the inner driver boot clamp(the larger one) and a pair of boot clamp pliers.
Hope this helps. I have a 93 and it's what I had to do. Quasi's method is good for 90 and earlier, I think, but the newer ones are really a lot tighter and are best worked on out of the car.
