I went through this on my 90 9000 a couple years ago.
You can order new rotors, new pads, and rebuilt calipers for just a little under $200 from a site sponsor, such as eeuroparts.com.
Labor by an honest mech should be 1 hour for each side, in my case, in MA, I got front and rear done for less than $300 each TOTAL, or less than $600 total for the whole car.
Much better than getting hit with $1200 for the whole car as a saabnaive post college student in my then recently purchased 86 900S when my caliper froze and I limped into a Midas and was told I needed everything.
If you do the work yourself, which I did the other day in my 93 CSE, sans rotors, you can save the cost of 2 hours labor, but for the cost of 2 hours labor, it's nice to have someone else do it right and bleed the brakes.
I've had the ABS sensors come on as well, in my 90 then, and they came on for the 93 when the rear calipers were frozen and non-functional once, but haven't come on since I replaced them.
For the price of parts, I would just start over with new parts and find a mechanic who is willing to do the job, with your parts, AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, give you the old calipers back so you can send them back to eeuroparts, or wherever, and get your $120 core charge.
You can pull wheels and inspect yourself, but sounds just like my 90's brakes did when they hit the very very end of their life.
I went with the cheapest calipers, pads, and rotors, and found them to be fine, especially the pads which have minimal brake dust.
Good luck.
