same exact thing happened to me (though, my wife was not pregnant at the time) but at least I was close to home. Was able to stop and go, allowing it to cool down once the temp would rise, basically "limping" home.
I can tell you that after that incident, one thing after another happened to me: upper rad hose burst apart the following week, ATF mixed with coolant same time, expansion tank cap failed to keep proper pressure. The fact that the coolant got so hot caused these other items to occur.
My advice:
1)Flush cooling system completely, including the heater core
2)Replace the t-stat with the same temp as oem (Trionic likes it that way)
3)Replace ALL coolant hoses (rad, heater, expansion tank, water pump)
4)Refill with your choice coolant (Saab, M-B, Zerex G-05)
5)Replace expansion tank cap
6)Hope for the best that no other damage was sustained
BTW: I would keep the wife out of your car until the baby comes along. I rushed mine to the hospital a few years' ago in my then '96 900S, and was left with a permanent circle in the front passenger seat from where the amniotic fluid "ate" into the leather when her water broke!
Let us know when it finally arrives...
