Help - Engine died when going 75 mph

Car is a 92' 9KT/w auto & 120k miles. I was cruising in left lane at 75 mph and the car felt like it lost the overdrive and started to loose power. I immidiately started to move to the right lanes to pull over. I pressed the accelarator couple of times and the engine seemed to race (heard it and saw the tach) but it died by the time car came to stop.
I allways keep a eye on all the guages and there was nothing usual before this happened. Looked under the hood and did not see anything out of place so I tried to start several times, but it did not start. Checked all the fuses and replaced DI cassette with a spare, still would not start, had the car towed home.
After reading many posts I have checked the following.
Suspecting fuel pump I jumped pump fuse 14 from hazard light fuse 22. I can hear the pump running and tried to starting with no luck. Thought I had vapor lock and opened and closed the gas tank also.
Thinking it could be CPS I checked the tach needle for movement/bounce when starting and I see it moving slightly.
Plan to pull out the DI/plugs and try to see there are sparks when cranking and also check for fuel pressure in the rail.
Are there other items to check for?
