in front of engine, with tubes attached, including downpipe. The intercooler (extra "radiator" with big hoses at the bottom) is another dead giveaway :<)
OK. Well, here in Europe CSE was a trim designation and you could have all flavours of engine. US-based owners seem to insist that all CSEs in the States have turbos, but who knows what Saab really got up to. On the other hand, I understand that LPT-engined cars didn't have the turbo gauge so that's not necessarlily the test. Does your car have a BPC?
Maybe you need to find out if the engine number is right for the chassis number? Or even that the chassis number inside the trunk and the one on the plate in the engine compartment are the same.
If it helps, according to the handbook of my own 1993 CSE, the Engine number code for a 2.3 fuel-injection engine will start with B234, then a single number, and then will have the letter "I" as the sixth digit, followed by two numbers and the letter "A" or "M" for auto or manual. A turbo engine with intercooler would have an "L" instead of the "I". If this varies between markets I can only apologise for further confusing the situation.
