1997 CSE-T Auto; I know we are all mature adults here, but I still have a speed streak in me even after getting married and two kids. Anyway, I was on my way home late last night from work and I usually cruise about 80-85mph with the open highway (I-294 in Illinois is know as the Illinois Autobahn) I saw a set of headlight coming up kind of fast but they had fogs so I wasn't worried about it being a state trooper. Naturally I speed up a bit and he came beside and a looked over while we were both doing about 100mph. I heard him drop down a gear, or two and started to pull away. "What the heck, I said" dropped the pedal to the floor and the auto dropped down and I was planted back in my seat while I passed him with some authority, gotta love that Turbo :>) He was running about five cars lengths behind all the way up to about 140mph and then I added a few cars lengths until I noticed the boost started to drop quickly. The speddo was between the last "hash" mark(145) and trip computer dial. I exited the highway at my exit and he folowed me to the gas station on the corner. We talked a few minutes and he said "damn, how fast does that thing go, I maxed at about 135mph and you kept going!" I think the "kid" was also a bit shocked when I got out of my car with my suit. Well, the car handled smooth as butter until about 130mph when there was some vibration going on, but nothing bad. It pulled HARD to about 120mph then still pulled nicely to the end before the boost dropped. Is the boost supposed to do that? I though I lost an intercooler hose when it happened because I was at full throttle for probably a minute, or what seemed like eternity.
Well, I just thought I would share me childish unsafe adventure. :>)
PS - my other car is a Grand National :>))
