ah,

thanks gene,

good to know, sounds like replacing the line can be wait and see

i'll have to check the rubber line

actually, time is severely limited too, but time is free, and i'm willing to trade time for a learning experience and hopefully have a working second car (which i may keep or sell)

something happens to me and cars, or maybe it's the car, and then me, but i hit a point where i don't feel good spending money any more on a car, and i've hit that point with the 92

i hit it before the alternator and clutch master went in one week, but we needed the car, so i paid, and got another week out of it, before i thought, i should have listened to my instincts and just sold it for parts

now, i'm already half-way invested, so at least i'd like to restore it's driveability. it's a nice rust free car with plenty of miles left, assuming minor trans whine doesn't cause problems for awhile

i appreciate your view about replacing the slave cylinder, rather than the hose, apparently i have options, original, AP/Lockheed, Swedish (scan tech?). anywhere from $90 - 200

i just hate to spend money on a part if i can safely rebuild it

what fails in the actual slave cylinder that a good cleaning and new seals can't fix??

i've heard new aftermarket can fail, and i'm reluctant to pay for an original if I could successfully rebuild, hence my quandry (purely a creation of my own resistance to spending $ on this car).

also, does anyone know the location of the trans serial # so i know which part of the roadgreasedirt to scrape off??

apparently there are different slave cylinders for that year
