Well, you sound hopeful about the tps... i'm not sure wtf the 5 flashes could be... i'll tell you what i know

It sounds like the engine load signal being incorrect...

I don't know what this signal is or where it comes from, jak seemed to think it wasn't a big deal, or that it was related to anything.

I first saw 5 flashes when i had a bad boost pressure switch, the switch located under the dash on the drivers side.

I was getting 4 flashes, and sometimes 5 flashes...

4 means knock sensor proble, and that was actually EXACTLY what i had wrong, so... i wish i knew what the 5 flashes was, cause it could turn out to be a problem in the future.

one thing you can do, is... pull the little 5 amp fuse in your glovebox-fusebox, and leave it out for like 10-15 minutes...

then plug it back in. this will reset the di codes, and now they won't appear....

then follow the procedure on pulling the engine codes.

open your hood, and on the drivers side where that black connector is up by the bottom corner of the windshield, fine the connector with only three pins, towards the left.

get a long peice of wire, and strip the ends, and stick the wire in the 3 pin connector in it's rightmost pin...

open your driver door, and get in, holding the wire, turn the key to ON, and wait till you see the CEL come on, then touch the other end of the wire to the door's metal post that the door latch Latches around. This grounds the test signal and you can read the codes as they flash.

just write the number of flashes down.

I've done this in the past, and i have no codes, so it's no help to me, but maybe you have some to hint us in the right direction.
