Honestly Sungy, I'd stick it out and wait for the model you want. Used 9000's aren't that hard to find, especially the "S" version because, in terms of resell value (for an older car), they are far less desirable than an aero or turbo.
500 bucks and a conversion to auto?
500 bucks for car
1-2000 bucks for rebuilt/new transmission
2-700 dollars for new pedals, plates, etc.
200-800 dollars for a new ecu
400-1200 for a new clutch
Other maintenance on a car with 169k miles on it: $???
Car being a Saab with 168k miles on it: $??? x 3 (aka the Saab Factor)
Honestly, Sung, I'd just wait it out. You're looking at a potentially 3-4000 dollar car worth not even a third of that in blue book. I see 9000s's fly all over ebay for a song...one gent in my neighborhood just sold his 91 9kS Automatic for 800 dollars- and all it needed was an A/C recharge. (he was an old toad and went easy on it, of course)
Good luck, man
