I just picked up my '97 Aero from the shop (I had the blower motor and heater core replaced) and my wife, who was following me, calls and says "your brake lights are on all the time - even when you're accelerating - do you have the e-brake on or something?" The e-brake definitely wasn't on. So I think "maybe I'll restart the car to see if that resets anything." Well, the car wouldn't turn off. The dash lights dimmed slightly but the motor would continue turning over until I stepped on the gas (or maybe until I took my foot off the brake?). When I got home I also noticed that, like Geza, when I stepped on the brake without the ignition on, all of the lights would turn on.
Coincidentally, I also have a busted lens on the passenger side headlight AND the pictogram shows that a rear light is out (even though they are all functional). Since I picked up the car and the problems started, the pictogram warning has been off.
Does this have something to do with the repairs being hurried on a Friday afternoon, or is it just a coincidental electrical/fuse/relay failure? I plan on contacting the shop, but they're closed for the weekend.
